An Investment in Good Health

Thank you for your support! Your gift today helps our programs continue to deliver healthy results for thousands of San Diegans with nowhere else to turn. Physician founded and directed, we are committed to improving access to health care. We help our doctors give back to their community, provide practical consumer health care education to support prevention, and nurture medical students who are the future of our noble profession.

Foundation Background

The San Diego County Medical Society created a separate not-for-profit corporation named AMPER in 1968 with the goal of providing medical students with low-interest loans to further their careers. In 2005, the Medical Society founded San Diego County Medical Society Foundation with a broader vision and mission to serve low-income and uninsured residents of our community. Since then we have expanded our reach to include programs that improve the delivery of volunteer care for physicians and patients with unmet healthcare needs, legislative trips to stretch the minds of medical students and education to keep our retired physicians actively engaged and informed.

How is SDCMSF funded?

We are fortunate to have consistent financial support from philanthropic foundations and members of the San Diego County Medical Society. Individual and corporate donations are a critical piece of the revenue pie of a strong and sustainable organization, and that is where we are focusing more and more effort. Much like our goal of “sharing the care” among volunteer healthcare providers, we understand the power of many individuals that each contribute to a greater cause. We know that increasing our individual support will provide us with even greater connection to the community and more sustainability as we work together to create a healthier community.

What can you do?

Getting involved sends a powerful message to the most vulnerable in our midst: we are a community that cares.

Your contribution assists us to provide specialty healthcare for those who most need our help, detect curable cancers, educate expectant and new parents, and prepare the next generation of physicians.
On behalf of all those we serve, thank you for your support!

Kaiser Permanente Volunteers

Kaiser Permanente leadership and staff, along with Southern California Permanente Medical Group physicians, are an important part of our team. You have assisted with Super Saturday Surgery Days since 2008, providing needed surgical procedures and GI diagnostics for more than 230 patients. Super Saturdays are also a fun way to give back to the community with your colleagues. Click here to complete a volunteer form for clinical and non-clinical opportunities. The next Super Saturday Surgery Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Garfield facility.
